Lifestyle to follow for preventing health threats

In previous article we got to know about Importance of healthy lifestyle so as in this article we are going to know about the Lifestyle to follow for preventing health threats. Particular lifestyle change can help in preventing particular disease or disorder. Some lifestyle changes improve fitness and quality of life. Adopting and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is not a bed of roses. Generally, a healthy lifestyle includes various habits such as not taking alcohol, eating a healthy diet, doing sufficient physical exercise, wearing sunscreen, not smoking etc. The following points may be very significant in preventing major healty threats for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. 

1. Indulging in regular physical exercise



Leading contemporary life in most of the countries has reduced individual's opportunity to expand energy. Whether in moving from one place to another or at home. It is usually seen that most of the people avoid doing any physical activity. They prefer elevator instead of staircase. They prefer motorbike instead of walking. As amatter of fact, regular physical activity and exercise helps in preventing obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, diabetes and other health threat. Moderate physical activity or exercise should be done at least six days a week and at least 60 minute per day. Doing even a little bit of exercise is much better doing nothing at all. Walking is simple but effective exercise that most of the people enjoy.

2. Adopting healthy eating life



Healthy eating habits can help individuals in preventing as well as controlling the diseases. A diet that includes plenty of vegetables, fruits, and whole grain cereals and breads is recommended in parts because such a diet is high in fibres. Replacing the harmful type of fats i.e., saturated and trans fatty acids, with unsaturated fats including source of omega-3 fatty acid reduces the risk of coronary artery disease by reducing low density lipoprotein cholesterol. Excess calories from any source should be limited. 

3. Maintaining a healthy weight


Obesity is a world wide problem. Overweight person experience a two to three times elevation in the risks of coronary artery disease and hypertension and ten times increase in diabetes in comparison to the lean individual. Overweight and obese person may experience increased risk of cancer of colon,  breast and kidney. In fact, BMI and body mass index should not exceed 24.9 for both men and women. It may be attained by adapting a healthy lifestyle in which an individual should stick to a lifetime concept of weight control. It can be achieved by setting up proper goal, and laying stress on health and not on weight. Cutting calories, avoiding fatty, junk and fast foods, avoiding overeating and rich carbohydrate food, balancing intake of calories and expenditure of caloriss and regular physical exercises help in maintaining a healthy weight. 

4. Limiting TV Watching


Watching TV for a number of hours regularly is associated with increased obesity rates in children and adults, according to various research studies. It enhances the risk of diabetes and gallstones. Watching TV reduces physical activity and increases consumption of foods and beverages high in calories. Reduced hours of watching TV significantly reduces the body weight. So, it is recommended that we should not watch TV for more than two hours a day. 

5. Quitting Smoking



Quitting smoking is significant for a healthy lifestyle. In fact, smoking or use of tobacco in any form increases blood pressure which may cause stroke and coronary artery disease. Avoiding the use of tobacco helps in preventing health threats. Avoiding the use of smokeless tobacco also prevents oral cancer up to some extent.


6. Getting Sufficient Sleep


Sufficient sleep is also a very significant part of a healthy lifestyle, particularly affecting mood and mental state. Inadequate or insufficient sleep is a risk factor for injuries. So, sufficient and sound sleep is necessary for keeping an individual away from fatigue or exertion. One becomes fresh and energetic after having an adequate sleep. 

7. Preventing Injury



Prevention of various types of injuries owing to fatal accidents plays a vital role in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Injuries can be prevented simply by taking certain precautions such as wearing seat belt, no intoxication when driving any vehicle, limiting speed, etc. . 

8.Limiting the Amount of Alcohol


To use alcohol in limited amount is also an important part of healthy lifestyle. Although a little amount of alcohol, especially red wine, may have some benefits for health but or more than two drinks per day is usually harmful and may lead to health threats.
